Iran welcomes first group of tourists after pandemic ban removal

Iran has welcomed the first group of foreign tourists from Russia following the visa ban removal.   

The Russian tourists arrived in Tehran late Thursday within the first familiarization tour (FamTour) after the lifting of the visa ban.   

The tour will pay a visit to Kerman, Mahan, Lut Star Ecocamp, Shiraz, and Isfahan regions of Iran.

According to Iran’s deputy tourism minister, the country’s borders to foreign tourists have been opened following 19 months of suspension based on the new conditions prevailing in the country after crossing the fifth wave of the pandemic, increasing vaccinations, and at the request of the Tourism Ministry. 

The tourists and the host communities are expected to follow all health protocols in order to be allowed to enter the country.
